WGTE's "Take One Step for Just 21 Days"
Even if your New Year's Resolution has been compromised, our community partner, WGTE, is offering you a fresh new start!
Developing a healthy habit is a gift you give yourself. Take One Step for Just 21 Days will help you do that. Decide which of the 9 small steps you are willing to take for 21 days in a row. Each day, log on WGTE's website and rate how you did! We are told by self-help theorists that if you purposely work at a habit for 21 consecutive days, it's yours!
Because this is also a "Take One Step" initiative, we only want you to work on ONE habit at a time. If you have successfully completed a 21 day cycle, then you can choose another and repeat the process.
Here are the choices:
- Stop the soda pop; choose water instead
- Reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke each day by one less cigarette
- Eat at least five servings of fruit and/or vegetables per day
- No high calorie fast food (i.e. hamburgers, fries, shakes, etc)
- Downsize your portion sizes
- Start gradually, but make at least half of your grains, whole
- Consume only fat-free or low-fat dairy products
- Walk, or exercise for 30 minutes each day
- Eat breakfast every day
